Blow-out
Recently this tyre-scrape appeared in front of our place. It goes almost all the way to Myrtleford, some 15 km. It starts somewhere between us and Porepunkah.

I'm guessing it was a truck towing a second trailer, or a car and double axle trailer. Something big enough that it wouldn't directly notice the tyre scraping along the road leaving a rubber scar. Its hard to understand though how the vehicle kept going. Surely that would have been making a noise and smoking if not burning?
I saw it turning out of my driveway one morning, then followed it all the way to Myrtleford. It wasn't there the day before, must have happened during the night. But as you travel the path it leaves is pretty disturbing. Further up the road there's a few twists and turns in the road, at times almost a right-angle corner in a big sweeping arc as the road goes around the foothills.

The skid trail shows that the vehicle and its damaged trailer went around those corners in the middle of the road! Imagine coming around a blind corner at night and a truck dragging a burning tyre is coming at you !

A car travelling in the opposite direction would have been cleaned up. The tyre burn marks record the truck was travelling blind around the corner in the middle of the road, way over the double lines into the opposite lane.
A bit further up the burn/drag mark jumps more than a metre to the right. That could only be the trailer bouncing on a curve after the melting tyre grabbed the road.
